KEKOA'S LAST VET VISIT

Christine writes:
I just got off the phone with Connie.
After a long period of waiting and resting and repairing and mending, Kekoa had his final appointment with the veterinarian specialist today.
The news was very good. According to Connie, the vet was smiling widely after looking at the x-rays. Things have healed better than expected.
As of today, Kekoa can start being walked on a lead for five minutes a day. He may always show a little bit of lameness, but he will be able to walk on it. Connie predicts with his energy level he will also do some running.
Next week, Kekoa gets to go for ten-minute walks. The following week, he goes for 15 minutes. After that he gets to move about with limited restrictions.
I would like to thank both Gordon & Connie who have spent months & months rehabilitating this young dog. They have also become quite inventive in ways to keep him quiet & resting with restricted movement. He has eaten a million bones, which he enjoys.
Speaking of his weight: He is now at a healthy weight and maybe even a little plump due to his lack of activity.
Thank you to everyone who believed this this little black dog deserved a chance at a happy quality life!! Connie promises to send pictures of Kekoa opening his Christmas presents. I believe he has already gotten the greatest gift of all.
JEANNE PLAUTH:
It is so great to hear about this progress. This past Thanksgiving I was reflecting on the new beginnings both Kekoa & Goldie are experiencing and it warmed my heart.

That's SUCH good news! I'm happy to have been a part of this rescue.
MAUREEN SCOTT:
I was also speaking with Connie this week. She sounded so upbeat & positive about Kekoa's progress. She & Gord have done an amazing job, keeping this dog medicated & happy & settled while he recovers. Kekoa is a very lucky boy! And Connie & Gord are the best!
