GRACIE (f/k/a RUBY)
GOES HOME TO MICHIGAN
10 DECEMBER 2006

On 11 December, Linda & Jerry McLeod write:

She has arrived! Last night was quite the event. Our boys were not as thrilled as we were, but this morning things have settled down nicely. She has a new best friend with our Westie. She has been shopping in the toy box and running up & down the stairs. We are going to the vet, who is our daughter-in-law, this morning so everyone there can meet her. She seems to be settling in very well. Thanks once again for all your help.

On 14 December, they continue:

Gracie is doing great. The boys are still sizing her up but that doesn't seem to slow her down. She has every toy out of the toy box and runs from one to the other. She loves to run in the backyard. She runs up & down the stairs and has found the window seat so she can watch cars go by.

Got her a new "girlie" collar with lots of "glitz". She went to the vet and had fun there with all the dogs & cats coming & going.

On 28 December comes the news:

Now that Christmas is over, we thought that we would send a few pictures. Gracie & her new buddies get along just fine. Riley is the Westie and Tipper is the old guy on the floor.

Ph

Gracie is in her glory when she is surrounded by toys which she thinks
all belong to her. She is well adjusted to the new surroundings.

Ph

Hope everyone has had a good start to the holiday season.

Another Rescue Success Story, Thanks to CRUSA!

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.

Hmm . . . Yes there it is, right on the top -
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.

I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things
And take me right back?

Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never re-pack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?
