RUBY BRINGS HER LOVE
BACK TO K-TOWN
14 NOVEMBER 2006

I brought along RosieVi
to show her off to Shell,
after our delicious lunch
AND PIE at Danny's Café.

Sometimes, through no fault of anyone, especially not that of the dog, an adoption does not work out. Such was the case with Gracie (to be known again as Ruby). To her good fortune, she was returned to CRUSA . . . and reunited with her brother, Henry.

After their initial greeting, and her greeting to new (to her) foster RosieVi, the race was on. And on. And on. RUNRUNRUNRUN. Through the leaves. Up the deck. In the house on one side; out of the house on the other side. Down the deck, through the leaves and in between the trees. I got tired just watching; needless to say, I didn't even TRY to take pictures!

The REAL surprise was RosieVi! SHE ran (well, she hobbled along), tail up and waving in the aire! We hadn't seen that in the entire week she's been with us. VetteMan had said that perhaps a younger female would be good for RosieVi, but I don't think we realized just HOW good. Suddenly, she was one of the pack; true, she was the low dog on the totem pole and everydog was picking on her, but she finally belonged.

She & Ruby hit it off immediately; they are, in fact, both fast asleep on my bed as I type this the next day. RosieVi actually initiates play with Ruby; watching her plow through piles of leaves higher than she is tall is worth getting up at 2:15 a.m. 'cause everydog wants to go out and AS LONG AS WE'RE OUTSIDE, MOM, LET'S PLAY! So there we are in the yard; the only noise in the neighborhood is the sound of the jingleball and dogs running through leaves. Pure heaven for us all.

Of course, when we finally come inside, I am wide awake, and here are the dogs . . .

Ph

. . . Ruby RIGHT BACK on her favorite spot . . . my pillow.
Even if my head is on it, she insists on sharing it.

RosieVi has finally begun to eat. She is entering the house voluntarily, and no longer runs (as far or as fast) away from me if I have to pick her up. When The K-Town Two run after something, so does she . . . she has no idea why, but she figures she may as well join the pack in their "hunt". If you've ever seen my favorite Howliday movie, The Christmas Story, think of RV the next time you watch Randy run after Ralphie and his buddies, in his Michelin Man snowsuit . . . that's RosieVi!
