On 6 April, Kenosha FosterMum
I ran into my dog's groomer today - she rescues dogs, too - and she mentioned there is a Cairn in the Kenosha Safe Harbor Humane Society, which is a kill shelter. Thought it might be worth checking into since I'm open now and I think we might have another new foster home in Kenosha as well.
The next day, Katie writes:
The little guy's name is Scruffy and he definitely looks Cairn to me. He was an owner surrender. The people adopted him from Safe eight months ago and now returned him, saying they were moving. The staff member read all his info to me and he sounds perfect. Gets along with other dogs (not sure about cats). Is house trained, etc., and doesn't have any reported issues. I noticed a couple of spots on him that lead me to believe he may have some sensitive skin, but nothing horrible. He is about seven years old and neutered. Overweight but fairly small in size. After losing a couple of pounds, he will be around 16 or 17, I would guess.
I was very impressed with the fact that he didn't bark AT ALL while I was there. I could hardly hear myself think all the dogs were barking so much and he just sat there and wagged his tail and looked at me. He is darling and I think we should take him.
On 9 April, First-Time FosterParents Jeff Martindale & Linda Duba picked him up. Linda writes:
Here is the one picture we have of Scruffy; he is very active so we had a hard time getting him to stay put. I will send more as he "tires out". Scruffy is awesome, very active for a seven-year-old. He loves to play catch and has a ball in his mouth constantly. He also loves to give kisses. What a great dog!
A special CRUSA SALUTE (WOOF!) to JEAN ROSINSKI of
HOUSE OF FAISONS in Kenosha, Wisconsin, for keeping our Cairns in her thoughts and contacting Katie when she found one!
