After an anxious few days, from last Friday's concerns that our little boy may still not be healing as well as we could wish, Porscha took Little Forrest back to the good Dr. Chris Andrews for another checkup on Monday.

I knew she was not only working every day but also was getting home late, so I did not expect a call from her immediately. But she called last evening, very chuffed (that means happy) with LF's report card. Dr Chris has given him the all-clear, and the stitches will be out soon, and the wound is nicely healed. No pus, no smell, no nasty anythings.
So there we are - one happy chubby little wombat, a miracle of survival without doubt, all set to grow up as a fine big boy - in time. But for the moment, he is just a baby (albeit slightly heavier & bigger than five weeks ago) and still has many months ahead of needing Porscha's full time care, love & attention.
We both wish we could spray him with something to keep him just the way he is now, but I guess that is just being selfish.
But the photographs will do that, anyway. Of course, I just love going back to the beginning . . . . And because we all share him, his story will continue and so will the photographs.
With an astounding $1700 AUD, contributed with such unbelievable generosity by this extraordinaire-y WorldWide Airedale family, we think it only fitting that when Libby Karier & Garry Loware visiting us in June, we will make the presentation to Porscha together. That way, you will all be there!
And when Porscha decides how best to spend it, on something that will endure and help in her work, you will be there for that, too.
For the moment, way down in southern Oz, it's bedtime for all of us . . . oh, well, maybe not for Little Forrest. He is doubtless bouncing around, hurtling up & down Porscha's hallway, or leaping onto the couch, or burrowing into a pile of blankets. I hope Porscha's got his bottle ready for 2 a.m.!

I visited Little Forrest Wombat tonight to see how he is faring, and was enraptured to be in time to feed him his bottle, and then to marvel at how beautifully his wound has healed, and his wombattiness has increased. He is no longer the tiny baby of six weeks ago, all snuggles & nuzzles. He still loves his cuddles, but they are interspersed with that little-boy stage of wanting to know about everything.
And I mean everything. There is not a corner of Porscha & Neil's home that is unexplored by our feisty little fellow. Best of all, he has a playmate now. It's a rather large toy wombat, just the right shape & size for Little Forrest to pounce upon, fang fiercely and roll over in a tumble of legs & paws. I came home feeling particularly happy that our Little Forrest is now strongly padding along the path that is rightfully his.
(There will be a two-week hiatus of reports & photos as Sue & Bill take a long-planned and well-deserved vacation.)
