Lovely, lovely story and so good to share it with the other wombat carers.

I wouldn't be worrying about his immune system - he'll be fine. We often get them in debilitated & worn out at this stage and they do very, very well given a huge amount of TLC & good food; it's amazing what love can do. His wound was the worry but it sounds like it's well under control. Must admit though, I was a bit worried it may have been closing up too quickly but young cells heal so much quicker than old cells - he had youth on his side!!

Little Forrest with his 'Mum'
(The only walkies he's going on
are in her arms!)

Forrest has a great future ahead of him; once he feels better he will need to go for walks with "Mum" - they love to go for walkies and stick so closely to your heels, it's magic going for wombat walks - you should ask Porscha to walk him up at your place.

One of my other girls has a beautiful golden retriever and this retriever and the wombat bub I gave her were the best of friends; they actually grew up together and used to toddle off into the bush side by side - wombie never ever let the dog out of his sight (which is what they do with their mums anyway). Little wombie always came back when the dog was called home. It was the funniest thing to see them belting down the driveway side by side when called!

They are still the best of friends after all this time, but the wombat is doing real big wombat stuff now and only runs home to hearth & home when there is a bad storm on, much to amusement of the carer who will in the morning find a wombat & a golden retriever sharing the kennel on the verandah! Its a bit of a tight fit as they both have grown a great deal.

This wombie was found so weak he couldn't stand on his little legs and was absolutely covered in ticks with bleeding paws and could hardly suckle. Another little one who lost his mum to a motor vehicle accident. You should see him now!

Hope all is well with you & yours - all my lot are curled up in front of the fire. It's a bit of a surprise to see kangaroos on the mat in front of the fire. It's far too cold outside for them! And we don't spoil our babies!

THE END
(for today)

Please thank your wonderful, loving, caring friends in the US for sharing Forrest's magical journey. Wish one could impart the same love & care to some Aussies.
