BERT VISITS SHELL & JIM
3-6 NOVEMBER 2007

Shell writes:

For the past few days, Bert's been at "Chateau Lewis".

[Shell assures me that,
appearances to the contrary,
Bert is NOT smoking
. . . anything . . .
in this picture.
He picked up some paper
from a box she was unwrapping.]

Foster Mom Laura Peters was wisely concerned when Bert began acting listless and had blood in his stools. So on Saturday, we moved him to our house where we're much closer to the vet's office and a 24-hour emergency clinic.

Ph

Bert was very under-the-weather on Saturday and slept most of the day. But he was drinking water and I was on the phone with my vet throughout the day so we just let him sort of "regroup".

Ph

"OK, he's cured!
Let's ship him outta here
and get this house back to normal,
with all the attention on mememe!"

Yesterday (Monday) morning, he awoke a brand new dog with an appetite & attitude and he's gotten better ever since. He's eating like a horse and running around the house and displaying that obnoxious Cairn puppy behavior that one would expect.

Ph

Teaching Bert bad habits. Thanks a lot, Shell!

The nights have been long. This is the first time that Bert has been away from his siblings and he howls when left alone. So Jim & I have been sitting up in bed and taking turns holding him, in two-hour shifts.

Ph

Nice stack!

Laura is taking him back today and we will miss him,
but are VERY glad to see him reunited with Arnie!

Ph

Skippy is NOT a fan of Bert . . . too noisy, he says.

Ph

"Oh, goodie! DadJim's makin' scrambled eggs'"

"Whaddya mean, 'They're not for us'?"

Ph

"Thanks for sneaking me that bit of scrambled egg, DadJim."
