JACK CAME BACK, REDUX
(THIS TIME,
HE DIDN'T EVEN LEAVE!)
11-12 APRIL 2007

So next morning, Andréa got up at 4:30 a.m., and drove through rain to bring Jack to Scott, who then drove through rain & sleet to bring Jack to Shell, who then drove through rain, sleet & snow to bring Jack to O'Hare Aireport, whereupon arriving, she was told that no planes are taking off, due to the afore-mentioned rain, sleet & snow.

What to do? Well, first take Jack & Skippy to the Dog Park to run off some of that energy. Then, off to Doggie DayCare for Jack, which is where he is right now (Wednesday afternoon), awaiting whatever is sheduled for him next. Which is not to say that whatever is scheduled is what is going to happen . . . perhaps a Forever Home is closer to being found than we realize, and this is just an unscheduled stop for him.

That night, Shell writes:

He's B&Bing at "Ruffner's Doggie Daycare", and is probably sound asleep now. They wear themselves out. Tomorrow I'm picking him up and we'll try the airport again, but they have not lifted the weather restriction until 6 a.m. tomorrow morning and maybe not even then.

Next morning:

Travel restrictions are still in effect on UA. Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow.

I just talked to day care and they said Jack had a BALL there yesterday. He played non-stop all day and slept like a baby all night. He's back in the playroom again this morning kicking up his heels. They've seen nothing but positive things from him.

FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH
IS A GOOD DAY FOR JACK

Shell finally writes:

I was on the phone with UA this morning at 6 a.m. and the weather ban was still in effect. When I asked why they told me that it was "snowing in Chicago". I told them that I begged to differ, but what can the poor schmuck in Nova Scotia do (and yes . . . the cargo call center is in Nova Scotia . . . go figure). I called back every half hour; by 10 a.m. they had lifted the ban for Chicago, although Denver & Boston are still not flying dogs. I ran and got Jack, put him on a 3:30 p.m. plane to BWI and Deb Hodgens, one of our foster homes, is picking him up.

My doggie day care did not charge me for day care, which was nice; they said he was a "great little man". He certainly crated nicely in the car.
