Shannon continued on to Wisconsin with Scott & Greg
where she met her foster parents, Shannon & Joe Radosevich.
First-Time Foster Mom Shannon
writes about Shannon (the Dog):
We are doing great . . . she is a real sweetheart!! She first ate this afternoon (late), but has not gone to the bathroom yet. Took her for two little walks hoping she would, and have been taking her out on our patio where Mickey goes every two hours!
She has some "issues" with one of her rear legs (luxating putella), and Shell mentioned her knee pops in & out of joint. Anyway, she can't seem to walk with the diaper thing I got her, it kind of drags her backend. And she hasn't made a peep yet. Slept on a blanket just outside her crate with her new "baby" (stuffed toy) which she seems to like. She is a very gentle soul. She does give kisses and LOVES to be talked to & petted, which I could do all day!!
When she saw me this a.m., she was wagging her tail so much she almost fell over . . . her eyes make me want to cry though - so much unsureness in them. If I can get that to change, it will make me so happy!
Our dog Mickey could care less that she's here. She goes up to him and he just sits there and lets her sniff. I have her baby-gated in our kitchen so if she does go potty, it's no problem to clean up.
I sit with her & pet her & scratch her & talk to her a lot.
On Wednesday, Shannon (the Person) writes:
I was in the basement yesterday doing laundry and realized that i had a nice soft dog pillow that we had for our cat Riley when he was 18 years old, arthritic and mostly sleeping. I brought it up and put a nice soft blanket on it and Shannon hasn't left it yet! I put her in the living room with Mickey next to his pillows (where he perches to make sure nothing gets by him), and the sun was shining and she slept, and slept, and slept . . . she even stretched out a bit.
She finally did this goofy dance last night and pooped for the first time here! She still has only gone potty once though. I sure am loving her . . . such a sweetheart. We go to the vet today . . .
The vet said she is in very good health for a puppymill dog. She has an infection in both ears so he cleaned them out very well and I have drops to put in two times a day. She could stand to loose a few pounds (can't we all??), and feels she will once she gets walking a bit. Now that I know she can I am going to get going with her.
As far as her knee . . . as long as she isn't showing any sign of pain or like it's bothering her, he feels we should wait for any type of surgery. He wants to handle it as a "wait & see situation". She really can get around well and if that should change, then we'll deal with it.
It was very rough for her at the vet's. Pretty scared. Scared in the car too. And boy, is she stubborn (imagine that) - won't walk unless she wants too! Still no peep out of her either!
We are getting little kisses; she still goes low to the ground when she comes to us, but she is so much better with us since Sunday! I am loving being with her.
