PARIS GETS SPOILED 17 FEBRUARY 2009 NOW I know what a heating pad & blankets are for! . . . and when it gets too warm, I can STRE-E-E-E-E-ETCH out. As I was doing p**p-scooping duty today, before the predicted snowfall of 5-9", I checked the fencing and plugged up the bunny escape hole, then let Paris "run wild". Patio steps were new to her, but she did them. She ran around the yard, then inside, then back outside. And again. And again. She looks like an Italian Greyhound (those small ones) when she runs. No more x-pen for her, she says. Just WAIT 'til she experiences running in the snow! Later today, Paris was wearing her diaper 'cause she didn't do anything when I tried her loose again. I was putting Daisy's diaper on Daisy and combing her out a little bit, when Paris jumped off my bed, walked to the patio door, curled herself around to "point" at her diaper, so I put her outside and after a bit of 'sniff & search', she pee'd!! yay!! Step one - making that connection! Then I gave everydog a treat and she also lined up at the treat can with the others, and took her treat in turn. What a good girl! 18 February Because Paris was dx'd with luxating patella (loose kneecaps), she has been banned from my bed (which is higher than normal) and now sleeps right next to it, on the heating pad, of course. I will have to buy another one for the dogs still using the bed. I noticed that when she jumps off the bed, she lands - THUMP! - on all four legs, whereas when she jumps off the couch, she lands on her front legs first. This may or may not make a difference - the vet did say that her legs may never become a problem - but I feel better than she isn't putting extra stress on the back legs.
19 February: I'M WEARING A BANDANA, TOO! I guess that means I've arrived. And know what?? Wastebaskets are full of neat stuff, like paper! And if I go outside and potty, I don't have to wear a diaper, so I'm learning that REAL QUICK! AND I don't have to sleep all night in a crate anymore! I LIKE this new life!! Thank you, CRUSA, for making it happen!
Daisy discovered the heating pad on the floor and sometimes gets to it before Paris does, so I guess I'll have to buy another one, just to make everydog happy - and warm! 23 February
