The one thing that I'm focusing on with Zoey is her separation anxiety, as she barks when I leave. So I'm trying a variety of different things, including having her spend time in her crate while I'm at home. She also has to sleep in it at night. She doesn't seem to mind at all and I'm also leaving the radio or TV on when I'm gone so she has noise in the house. This seems to be helping although she does still bark some when I leave. I don't know how long she barks for and hope she doesn't disturb the neighbors too much.
When I have some shorter spells to be gone I'm going to see how she does free with Sugaree in the kitchen. That will still be a challenge though cause it is me she wants and not Sugaree as she will bark when I go out to put the garbage out or get the mail. So that is our only challenge, but I think she will learn to overcome that with time & patience.
Zoey LOVES her toys. I have thrown out more toys in the last week and a half than ever before. Which isn't all together a bad thing because Sugaree had way too many and the toy box was seriously overflowing. So Zoey is helping us to manage our inventory. Fortunately she has not destroyed anything else, with the exception of one of my slipper socks that she stole. She has a thing for socks . . . but mind you, they must be clean! Go figure.
In the picture of Zoey with the toy and the stuffing everywhere, I have to tell you she did this while I was on a client conference call. It was so hard for me to not run out there and pick things up. I thought it was really funny at that time as well as now because I had to be ready at a moment's notice to talk so unfortunately I had to watch the entire "killing" take place and hope she didn't eat anything. She really doesn't tend to try to eat it, but regardless I like to take the stuffing away as quickly as possible.
