Maxi has been suffering from the itchies since his arrival. This may have to do with the flea infestation; perhaps from being shaven down; or even detoxification from previous food and/or having several shots given at the same time.

Whatever the reason, I've been trying various cures, to no avail. Benadryl, fish oil, shampoo with tea tree oil, shampoo with oatmeal . . . nothing seems to help.

For two days, I rinsed him with a combination of 1/3 cup Witch Hazel and 2/3 cup Listerine. The scratching somewhat abated, but the smell was terrible. I dressed him in this bright orange t-shirt; it might not have cut down the smell factor, but we sure had a good laugh about it!

"P U! What's that smell?!?"

"I'd rather itch than stink . . . or wear this stupid t-shirt!"
