ROMEO IS ADOPTED!

28 FEBRUARY 2010

Colleen Swartz writes:

I am happy to report to you all that although we have loved Romeo well and would keep him forever, I have found an even better home than my own for him to spend the rest of the days of his wonderful life. I would like to introduce you all to Christine, Loren, Helen & Winston.

May's

I drove to Oshkosh today to meet them after having several conversations both on the phone and by email; we shared a wonderful lunch together and got to know each other.

Helen is a beautiful, smart and dog-savvy little girl. She was friendly without being overly excited; she loved the dogs, but didn't smother them. She is respectful and kind and is constantly observed by her doting parents to ensure the safety of Helen and the dogs. Excellent child with dogs and I completely approve of her being Romeo's little sister.

Winston loves Romeo. He has been missing his sister and it showed it as he shadowed Romeo everywhere as he checked out the yard. I saw no issues with either dog, as Winston wants to follow and Romeo wants to lead. They even played together once Romeo got comfortable.

May's

They have a beautiful home on a quiet street near a park.

The backyard is fenced and full of beautiful trees,
a nice deck, squirrels and birds at the feeders.

Romeo spent a lot of time marking his new home.

The most impressive part of our visit was the constant attention to the environment, the dogs, the child and the quick and appropriate corrections wherever needed. To be honest, there were no problems, as Loren managed to avoid situations by being preemptive, whether it was Winston harassing Romeo to play or Helen approaching a dog from behind.

I was very impressed with the home and the relationships and the joy that all members of the family (Including Winston) exhibited. Winston is a very happy pet and he would be thrilled to have Romeo around; Romeo would be afforded a loving, attentive and fun home to live in. Loren & Christine adore him already. They were sad to see him go and Romeo's experience with them was very positive.

This truly is Romeo's forever home and I am proud to have been a part of this wonderful story.

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.

Hmm . . . Yes there it is, right on the top -
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hide Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.

I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things
And take me right back?

Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never re-pack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?
