Well, she came home tonight.

After careering 'round the house and garden with Suzi, they stopped for a rest . . .

I bought Lily a pretty bow;
it's a bit loose on her collar.
I don't think she likes it;
makes me laugh every time
I look at the pic.

Saw these delightful little tulips today.
They must be a dwarf variety;
they are about six inches high . . .

The full-size tulips are starting to look a bit wind-battered . . .

I had my final check-up at the hospital yesterday.
The bones have knitted together very well.
The surgeon said he didn't like to blow his own trumpet,
but the fix is near perfect.
He also said they had used a new fixing plate and method;
he was very pleased with it and would I sign a release paper
so he could use the scans and x-rays as a teaching tool.

I, of course, said yes;
after all, who is going to look at an x-ray of a leg and think,
"I know who that is. She lives down the road from me"?

I didn't know that I had actually broken off
the corner of the bone and it had compressed.
I think that's the term he used.
That said, he had worked 18 of these types of fractures in x years
(I missed the number he said).

Anyway, I can do normal things and just work my way back to full fitness.
I have squishy swelling on my elbow, bursitis caused by the gutter walker
and my using my elbow as a lever instead of my hand wrist.
I have to keep the elbow elevated and the ice pack on it; not easy, I can tell you.

I still have altered sensation in my leg and hand which may reduce over time.
I still have that funny zombie walk, but it will improve.

Tomorrow I get my broken tooth fixed. I'm not looking forward to that at all.

Really glad to hear how well your healing is coming along, and that the surgeon is pleased with both your progress and his own work.

Re "I didn't know that I had actually broken off the corner of the bone . . ." Been a l-o-n-g time since I've been a nurse but I've never lost my interest in medicine and have always had a weird tendency to remember strange terms.

An epiphysis is the name for the part of bone that broke off at the end of your tibia/shin bone. That's the name for the wider, rounded section at the end of a long bone such as the tibia/shin bone.

Re ". . . would I sign a release paper so he could use the scans and x-rays as a teaching tool." Cool, your experience will be contributing to furthering better surgical education!

Sounds like you had a really good surgeon! Sorry though to hear that you've developed bursitis in your elbow, I can just imagine how awkward that must be, trying to keep an ice pack on it whilst keeping your elbow elevated!

Best wishes for luck getting your broken tooth repaired tomorrow!

We thought we'd visit
a new garden centre today
as it was quite summery.
The place was OK, very busy.

. . .This is my new summer look,
