On 3 September, Jackie writes:

We drove up to the van yesterday as the [weather] forecast was good.
It was a pleasant two-hour drive. Of course,
we had to stop for Key lime pie and coffee for lunch.

Saturday morning, walking the dogs, I was lucky to see a beautiful sunrise over the beach.

PH

With a sunrise it's all about the timing;
I have to climb about 20 steps up a steep bank from the caravan park.
The bank is part of the sea defences. At the top there is a level area
and the six steps down onto the promenade.

PH

I always stop at the top to photograph the sunrise.
These photos were all taken from the same point at sunrise.

MARE MOORE:
LOVE your beach, so expansive to walk on and loads of room for pups
to run run run & burn off energy. Such a pretty sunrise,
love that golden glow.

We went to a local donkey sanctuary.
It was a nice day out;
bacon butties for us and
a bucket of carrots for the donkeys.
The dogs were so well-behaved,
following the bucket of carrots,
waiting while the donkeys
carefully took their treat
and hoping they were next in line.

They had zebra donkeys;
they looked odd with striped legs
and back and a big tuft of hair
on their heads, looking almost punk-like.

There were tiny ones and huge ones
that made the ugliest noise;
we thought it was a tractor horn
claxon of some sort.

PH

I of course had to adopt a donkey;
he had the biggest hairiest ears you ever did see.

I like this adoption policy: only one little picture;
no biannual letters or reports and no cuddly toy.
All the fee goes to his and the other donkeys' upkeep.
But I do get to visit him every weekend and feed him carrots.

BOB ANDERSON:
What a nice thing to do! Glad they have "visitation privileges"!
