JACKIE'S IN
TEXAS, PARDNER
|
Well, I arrived in Houston at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
It took another two hours to get through passport and customs.
They should have gates [designated] Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales,
then the rest of the world. When I got to the final exit check,
the man looked at my passport picture, then at me,
then back at the picture which was taken eight years ago
when I had short hair.
"I've spent so long in the queue my hair has grown." I commented.
Oops . . . don't think he had a sense of humour.
I thought he was going to arrest me and have me shot at dawn.
I finally got out, met Dan & Elaine and we headed south.
|
It had been very wet,
but was not raining
for most of the journey.
We stopped at Cracker Barrel
and it was exactly like the one
we went to in Rochester.
I had French toast; it was good.

The house is very nice; it's built on stilts and has a lovely view.
This is my room; the sunset picture is taken from the porch.

SUNDAY, 26 APRIL
Very grey & wet & humid; my straight hair is now curly.
Went to a sushi bar for lunch and did some shopping.
I commented that it was a neat idea to have the
chopsticks joined so they stay close together,
but it only allowed you to pick up little bits of meat.
They do something similar in England, only they use elastic bands.
Dan started to laugh and pointed out that I was supposed to separate them.
Well, how was I supposed to know . . . LOL

Spot the Texan . . .
. . . or is it Thelma & Louise,
Texas style. Elaine is English,
so it was a trick question.

MONDAY, 27 APRIL
|
|
We are on tornado watch.
We went to Jackson
on the Gulf Coast,
but it was still raining,
so made our way back to Sargent.
Here Dan & I are
on Sargent Beach.
|
I drove Dan's pickup home . . .
. . . it's a bit bigger than my car,
but I was ok and even drove through the town a little bit.

Dan was well pleased.
