We visited BLUE REEF AQUARIUM
only because it was a rescue & conservation one.
I never knew that turtles often get washed up on the North Cornwall coast.
They get swept in on the Gulf Stream [as you can read HERE]
This turtle was injured & blind so they have kept him,
but generally they get fattened up and flown back to the Canaries to be released.
[As Jackie & Tom will be going there in October,
perhaps they'll see 'em in the wild?
Stay tuned for the Cruise of 2013 website,
coming to a monitor near you!]
One of the holiday airlines takes them in a pressurized hold,
which is very nice of them.
I don't know how they came to have the ray.
ST. IVES: We had to visit St. Ives because we have one 20 miles from us.
View of the harbour where we managed to park.
It was a nightmare finding a flat surface for Tom to park;
his ramp will not work on a slope. At one point,
we'd been directed down a hill and halfway down,
we had to turn right. We were now traversing the hill
and it was a very narrow road; one-way traffic only.
We came to a staggered crossroads and could only turn right again;
left was no entry and straight on was a dead end.
We felt as if we were sitting at a 45-degree angle.
This was not good for Tom.
OMG we were stuck;
the car was too long and could not make the turn.
We had to cross over and the house wall removed
a little bit of the paint on the door trim.
Somebody from a shop in the dead end directed Tom
in his 50-point turn and made sure it was clear for him
to now make the left turn back up the hill
which was just short of vertical.
