I challenged Tom to a game of table tennis.
He beat me 21 to 9 and ran me all over the deck.
We'd ordered breakfast in our room, but after a couple of days, I preferred to eat in the self-service breakfast bar. I had a poached egg on a waffle followed by fresh watermelon & pineapple every day; I'd decided I was going to have all the food I either can't cook or don't have time to prepare at home while I was on holiday.
The restaurant was on the tenth floor, so my daily exercise was to run up five flights and walk down seven to the promenade deck where three circuits equaled one mile. I would stroll round a couple of times, sometimes more, then back to the room to plan the day.
Every night, a newsletter was delivered to our room telling us what was happening the following day, the weather, the dress code, talks, demonstrations, classes, etc. I enrolled on a course to take better pictures, make a video (move over, Spielberg), Pilates, how to put on your make up, how to get fit, thin, younger. I could have learned line dancing or ballroom dancing or how to play poker . . . I needed nearly another week on board to fit it all in.
