Small plane from Milwaukee to Houston
"How small was it?" you ask . . .
. . . so small that my carryon had to be gate-checked.
Flying into Houston, 8:15 p.m. . . .
These are photos of the Bluegrass Divers from Kentucky area.
There are a few more we are meeting either in Hawaii or Guam
l to r: Rick Stevens (still outside), Doug Geddes & Noel Hall.
I was introduced to 11 people this a.m., along with
many other things happening at the same time.
I'll get better ID as I learn more who's who.
l to r: Rick Stevens, Maryann O'Canna (in the back in blue track suit), Doug Geddes
(man in blue cap & jacket is NOT in our group) & Bob Tibbets
In Ruby's Diner at GBIA [George Bush Intercontinental Airport]
l to r: Bob Tibbets, Rick Stevens, Doug Geddes;
Dan Miller, Russ Tucker & Maryann O'Canna
l to r: Ralph Covington, Mike Sullivan (no relation to Ed) & Sherry Covington
My roommate, Tom Shropshire
I won Honorable Mention in the "Halfway to Hawaii" game!
The captain provided departure time, distance, ground speed & headwind;
we were to calculate the time the plane hit the halfway point.
I almost won a Lonely Planet Guide to Hawaii
(which is NOT on my Diving Bucket List, BTW).
So it's 3:14 a.m. on Tuesday . . .
. . . and I'm on Guam in the United Club
using the WiFi 'cuz it's "free".
We are scheduled to dive later this a.m.; departure time is unknown.
I did get some sleep on the plane; although my butt is sore,
my back (so far) is not.
I'll get pictures of the rest of the group some time in the next few days.
In addition to shooting a traditional group photo,
Tom Shropshire brought along some do-rags from a sea turtle conservancy
in the memory of a cancer patient, made by the patient's mother,
and the funding place would like a picture of all of us wearing them.
