DOIN' A SAFETY STOP
On deep dives you can't just head straight to the surface. I had two deep stops and the "normal" safety stop; first deep one was at 75 feet, second one at 57 feet, then standard stop. Tish just hanging out waiting for time to pass so the computer "clears" . . . If you "lock up" your computer (violate the algorithm), it shuts down for 24-48 HOURS, depending on the brand and what you have done wrong . . . NO DIVING during that time! A tragedy on a trip where most of what you want to see changes from one day to the next (no going back). Mika our dive guide keeps a watchful eye on us. Also "safe divers are old divers"; this year, two days shy of my birthday, will be my 40th year of diving.
