The guide claimed it was the Americans who installed it,
but Koror was in Japanese hands through most of the War.
IT WAS NOT INVADED - that took place on Peleliu Island,
another part of the chain.

Anyway it was a long chain with these big steel balls on it
that were supposed to foul the propellers & rudders
of ships attempting to enter the main channel.

LUNCH ON ROCK ISLAND
Dive boat at lunch . . .

Each day Sam's packed a sandwich of choice and some fruit juice.
We would do a break (surface interval) between our first two dives and the last of the day
Lunch picnic shelter . . .

Rough but effective . . . the walls could get you out of the wind, which was strong.
Lunch beach . . .

The weather has been kicking up here (rains came early),
so to avoid a long boat ride battling the wind,
the last dive was closer to the dock.
GERMAN CHANNEL

Charlie Tuna . . .

. . . note the manta ray on its way out of the frame, upper left
Vision test: Can you see TWO fish?
