FINALLY,
DIVE DIVE DIVE!

Did two dives on the SHINKOKU,
a Japanese WW II destroyer [see it HERE]
Will possibly do two more dives, one at night.

MICRONESIA

[According to Wikipedia: For the past few centuries, only non-warships
bore the -MARU ending. MARU is translated as circle.
Its use was intended as a good-hope-naming convention
that would allow a ship to leave port, travel the world,
and return safely to home port: hence the complete circle or
"round trip" arriving back at its origin unhurt.]

Aside from the wrecks,
it is fascinating to see how much/fast coral grows over time.
We know these ships were sunk 71 years ago, mid-February.

Sleeping Parrotfish

Can you spot the sleeping Hawksbill turtle?
I made it easy . . . look beyond the bright light foreground at the center. Now can you see?

LOOK AGAIN. Easier this time.
Look for the "broken tile" pattern of head, fin and back.
My video light is a flood, and it's difficult to get a strobe to shoot past obstructions.

Aaaaand he has an opportunity to stay on the ODYSSEY
for another week, although all his other travel arrangements
will have to be changed, and we won't leave for Florida
for at least a week later than we'd planned.
BUT, as hard as it was to GET to this area,
he may as well stay and dive as much as he can . . . .
