Finally, it's bedtime. I pull Zoe out of her "cave", give everydog a last chance to potty outside, and put Zoe on the bed. She shivers, so I put her on a heating pad. I hold on to her; turn off the lights.
She eventually finds a comfortable, secure space to sleep, between my pillow and the wall. Throughout the night, whenever I wake up and look at her, she gives me a quick kiss on the nose, then pulls back as though she will be punished for that. I praise her, put my hand on her back, and we both fall back to sleep.
Sunday, 7 May:
Rico's first job of the day is to wake me up by washing my face; when he jumps on the bed to do his job this morning, he is greeted by growls from Zoe, who now decides this is HER spot. He retreats. So much for "Mr. Macho".
We get up and go outside, where Zoe pees . . . IN THE DOGS' bathroom! A small step, but a step nevertheless. She has not eaten or drunk anything since her arrival here last night. I give her her meds, and she retreats to her printer cabinet, which I line with a towel for a bit of comfort. She tells Cari & Rico to stay away, We shall see what today brings . . . more photographs, that's for sure!
As she won't eat, I tempt her with some beef stew mixed into Innova Dry; until I put the bowl by her cave, she has no interest in it. Once back in her cave, she eats both the stew and the Innova. Another small step.
After VetteMan & I breakfast at Danny's, all the dogs, and I mean ALL the dogs, have some of the toast VM traditionally brings home. It's official - Zoe is a Danny's Café Dog.
Then VM exchanges his "DogPops" hat for his "MacHead Technology" hat and works to recover a few of my messed-up photographs . . .
