The Captain, after spending his first night ever in A Human's Bed . . .
Kathy, who has discovered the kneehole of my computer desk as the perfect cave without bars, didn't want to join The Captain & me. However, pretty soon she came out to see what was going on, but if I moved to pick her up, she scurried back to her cave (her name is now Scaredy Kathy . . . she isn't just shy; she's terrified of everything!).
So I just let my hand dangle over the side of the bed, and within a few minutes, she put her head in my hand and allowed me to grab the scruff of her neck and haul her into bed, where The Captain was already comfortably ensconced on my pillow.
Because of teeth extractions & mouth infections, The Captain & Kathy have breaths that will remove, if not varnish, then my nailpolish at the very least. Soooo, having them both sleep by my pillow was, for me, not a real good night's sleep, particularly as they both pantpantpant from nervouseness.
After about 30 minutes, however, all became calm and we slept until 4:30 Monday Morning, when they both told me it was time to go outside for potty duty & then breakfast.
(Kathy managed to fall out of bed during the night, but she now allowed me to pick her right up and bring her back in the bed - I think we both did all this in our sleep!)
Everydog then had to go outside and runrunrun through the yard. Perhaps The Captain & Kathy had to be sure this all wasn't some dream they had while sitting in their cages for six years!
Speaking of which . . . The Captain has problems walking. His back legs are not atrophied, but they have no strength in them at all. He manages, though, and with some more walking, stair-climbing, and some games of chasechasechase, I!m sure he'll regain their use completely. Perhaps even some swim therapy would be good for him.
"DogMom says we can stay in bed this morning 'til it's time to meet Shell & Scott for breakfast!"
Sitting on the warming blanket and reading the Sunday Funnies, a day late.
"I'd rather snooze, thankyouverymuch."
