A call went out that five Cairns had been rescued from a Missouri puppymill and were in a vet's office in Waynesville, Missouri in need of transportation to waiting foster homes. So, with HL Denton keeping the homefires burning with Maud, Rhoda & Gracie, Scott & I got up at 3:30 Saturday morning and headed to the Ozarks.
We came back with five beautiful dogs. Captain & Tenille, Kathy, Pam & Birdie. The first three were handed off to their foster home at 8 p.m.; Pam & Birdie came to spend the night with us.

Maud, Rhoda & Gracie are all supportive and have great interest in these little orphans. Al won't come out of the computer room and has refused to eat since getting home! We gave them a bath and took a few pictures. They have been caged for six years and everything is new to them. Birdie is a bit more reserved than Pam, but once she got a bath and a brushing, she was ready to play with us. |

We skipped church this morning to give them baths. Poor Birdie had things caked in her coat so we just couldn't stand it so baths they both got. She loved the attention.

Pam has tugged at my heartstrings. I held her at the vet's office, and on the entire eight-hour drive home she sat there and stared at me. She watches my every move. Follows me around. When I look at her she lifts her left front leg so she can be scooped up and cuddled. Her foster mom comes at 11:00 a.m. today to get her . . . it's going to be a teary farewell, but I know she'll go on to a happy life in a loving home.
