ABBY AT HOME IN SEATTLE
WITH JESSICA DENNIS
24 JULY 2006

Tobi Potter, CRUSA Intakes, Northwest, writes:

Abby, JoJo & Violette have landed in Seattle. Violette has just been transferred to MaryBeth Rickel and Jessica Dennis is picking up Abby in a couple of hours. Jo Jo is staying here with me and the gang. They are all very happy and friendly little girls! Tails are wagging all the time. Shell was right, they are peein' machines, especially Abby.

Chipper is happy to have a bunch of girls, and Biskee couldn't care less.

Then Jessica reports:

We've only been home for about an hour or so, but Abby has explored every inch of the backyard and parts of the upstairs.

Abby is a sweetheart and quite adventurous. Our outside cat heard us in the backyard and came running over to say hi. Abbey wasn't too sure about a cat; we'll work on that later.

She & Winnie have started trying to play. They are trying to figure each other out. Abby likes nothing better than to jump on Winnie, which Winnie hates, but I'm sure they'll figure something out soon.

Abby isn't sure about stairs and we are working on those. She likes toys already, which was surprising.

The pics are not very good, but she was in explore mode and didn't want to stop for any photos. She is a total sweetheart that stops and gives kisses every time she wanders by.

[I see that Winnie is much more camera-savvy . . . what a lovely pose! - ad]

On 25 July, Jessica writes:

Abby had a big day today - she managed to go up all 12 stairs at the house! We got so excited!! I don't know how she did it, she was wiggling so much. I was so excited. I swear I won't update you with every mini-accomplishment - but this was a big one!

To which Tobi replies:

I know what you mean . . . when little Jo Jo arrived yesterday she was extremely afraid of the sliding glass door and the stairs. She was the most timid of the three. Today, she runs all over the house, has mastered the stairs (but is still clumsy) and doesn't care about the sliding doors. Every sight, sound, and smell is a new adventure for her - it's so fun and rewarding to watch. I can't imagine what she's been through in her young life. Yay for the MO girls and thanks to CRUSA for saving them!

And MaryBeth tells us:

Our little girl who WAS Violette is now Zaira - which in Gaelic means Princess. We couldn't find a translation for "wiggle butt" so decided on Princess!

She is a doll just like the others. She is only fur & bones, though. She is the skinniest one we have received. Took her to the vet today and she has a UTI and yeast in both her ears. Plus she weighs 2.2 pounds less than when she left Missouri.

She looks at me constantly. She will take a drink of water and then look at me and then take another drink - and so on.
