On 26 October, Shell reports:
It looks as though the last of The Missouri 6 are getting adopted. Kendrick should go home in about a week. His home visit is on Sunday. And Fancy is now matched to a neighbor of Scott & Greg's. It's a beautiful thing.
Adam Peterson is a lovely young man; a graduate student who grew up with Cairns. He lives around Wrigley Field. He has done a great job fostering Kendrick and the woman who is adopting him actually met him on the street during a morning walk. Kendrick will go to work with her every day. It's the perfect home.
Shell tells us: One foster leaves . . . another arrives!
This past week, Adam Peterson, a first-time foster home in Chicago, experienced the joy & the heartache of fostering. On Tuesday, he said goodbye to his beloved Kendrick, with whom he is pictured. By the way, that little tee-shirt Kendrick is wearing was a gift from Adam's parents (Kendrick's foster "grandma & grandpa") who live in Oregon and own two Cairns themselves. Congrats, Adam, on a great job with Kendrick!
And on 9 November, Katie Lindsay, Post-Adoption Coordinator, received this great report about Kendrick who was adopted just a few days ago:
Just to let you know that Kendrick (Ricky) is doing great. He is eating, pooping, sleeping and playing. Our walks are always an adventure; he is so curious about everything that moves and doesn't move.
I believe his adjustment period was almost non-existent, but who knows what the next few weeks will hold. So far, no accidents in the house; I take him to the office with me and again, no accidents.
He is a wonderful dog and a great addition to my life. It's like we were meant to be together.
All is well and thanks for checking in.
