OLLIE'S NEW HOME
14 NOVEMBER 2006

Marge writes to Lisa:

Ollie is doing well. It has been rainy here and Ollie was fascinated with every leaf, twig & dead worm on our walks. I have kept him away from almost all of the worms.

Bought a stairs for him to get on & off our bed in the future. Wanted him to get used to it so we did practice a couple of times. Leave him in the crate at night with him being so small. Eventually he will join us, but he is just too small now.

He met the grandbabies yesterday for the first time. Very excited at first, but then calmed down and was very interested in them. They played in the same vicinity for a long time and everything was fine. It was good to see.

We now have the dining room blocked off so he cannot get in there. He has been exploring every inch of the perimeter of the rooms. It is funny to watch him look up at things above himself as we had a blind dog (Sassie) for so long, and Reggie was not interested in things above him. Ollie also watched a jet coming in for a landing at our airport; we are on the approach pattern for Waukesha. It was cool to know he was watching with interest. Like watching the grandbabies explore the world around them. I could do that forever!!

He has been learning on his walks. We have him sit at each curb before crossing the road. He is getting the hang of it quite well. Also trying to have him sit as traffic goes by - 60% success with that. Also working on the heel command, but that will be a challenge. He is learning to stop when I stop and he sits.

Ollie still loves his crate very much. Two nights ago I thought that I would put him out one last time and he looked at me like I was nuts! "You want me to go where?? Just WHAT time is it???" He still drags his toys in there one by one and plays.
