CAPER GOES HOME!

18 DECEMBER 2011

Shell Lewis writes:

Anticipating that her senior dog, Reilly, might not be with her much longer, Marianne Bailey of Illinois applied to adopt a Cairn, a breed she had long admired. Sadly, just a little over a week ago, Reilly passed away, leaving Marianne and her little nine-year-old Schnoodle, Hudson, with a big hole in their hearts. However, both now have a lot to look forward to with the arrival of Skittles (f/k/a Caper).

Marianne called today to let me know how well Skittles is doing; her tail hasn't stopped wagging since she arrived. My sincere thanks to Pam & Steve Simpson of Wisconsin, who did a phenomenal job turning this young lady around. Mary Whitledge of Peoria did the reference checks and as always did a great, thorough job.

Pam writes:

It sounds like this match was one made in heaven! Marianne says she cannot believe it is the same dog and that is great (I added that part). Skittles is exploring everything (did not do that here); is having fun with Hudson; they have two dog guests this morning and she is having fun with them. She slept on the bed with them all night long - and her tail is wagging non-stop!

So good job, Shell! I am thrilled BEYOND WORDS that she is really, really HOME!! Marianne is surprised at the change in her demeanor as well and is just as thrilled. She is reconsidering her name; thinking Maggy might not be an energetic enough name. She promises to send photos!

Oh, the most important thing: SHE DID NOT GO IN HER CRATE AT ALL since she has been there. That is wonderful news!

This is great, great news and I am beyond HAPPY about it!

MY BAGGAGE

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.

Hmm . . . Yes there it is, right on the top -
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hide Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.

I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things
And take me right back?

Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never re-pack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?
