ONLINE RAFFLE Rather than an Online & Event Auction and an Online & Event Raffle, this year we had a month-long Online Only Raffle. Complete Gift Package and winners information is HERE. Complete Daily Incentive Prizes and winners information is HERE. CATERING Because MWCF08 was being held at the Kenosha Campus of PPU, I knew the area and what was available for food service. I contacted Kris from MAC'S DELI, and met with her to decide on the food. This year, the food was BROUGHT to PPU and laid out, all ready to go when The Event began at 11:00 a.m. Very convenient. Also, because of the prevalence of wasps and several other reasons, only bottled water was on offer. Luckily, it was NOT as hot this year as it was in 2007 . . . a good thing we moved all CairnFests to the weekend after Labor Day. PARKING ABRA Auto Glass and Body Shop gave us permission to use their parking lot for the day, which was very convenient . . . better than parking on the street - WAY up the street. ACCOMMODATIONS Here's where out-of-town folks stayed overnight: MAPS ARE NOT TO SCALE DINNER I reserved a semi-private dining area at Perkins for Saturday, 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Twenty-two people planned to dine together that night. PREPARING WELCOME PACKETS & GOODIE BAGS On Tuesday, 2 September, Mary Brabender & I put together 80 Goodie Bags. Unfortunately, we got so involved in this, we forgot to take photos! Each Welcome Packet contained: Name Badge(s), Program(s) of Events, Labeled Bandana(s), CRUSA Bookmark(s), coupon(s) for Goodie Bag(s) & two P**p Bags per Dog, with this Insert: CRUSA BULLHORN Jackie & Tom McGuinness from England donated to the cost of a megaphone, on appreciation of my doing a website of their 2008 Mediterranean Cruise, which can be seen HERE This bullhorn will travel to Southern CairnFest in September 2009, and to any other CairnFest where it is needed. PUBLICITY I contacted our local newspaper, Kenosha News, hoping an article would be done on our Event. However, a pre-event blurb was published, and I had visions of everyone in town dropping in, with their dogs. Fortunately, this did not happen. However, a reporter emailed me on Saturday, saying she would be coming to cover the Event, so Pam thought MC CairnDaddy should wear a special t-shirt; she quickly designed one and had a local t-shirt shop make it up for him . . .
