I was planning to make a strawberry cake, but the 9" cake pans won't
arrive 'til Saturday, so . . . I googled cake and berries
because Neal brought home lovely strawberries & raspberries,
and I have some frozen blackberries I can use . . .
Publix is having BOGO sales of all kinds of fruits,
so we want to take advantage of these prices for as long as they're available.
This recipe for VERY BERRY RING CAKE came up;
I had everything but the white chocolate, so I took a minute to drive to
the Walgreens down the street to buy some REAL white chocolate,
NOT those 'white chocolate baking chips' that have no flavor at all.
The bars were on sale (LINDT, 3/$9), which I took as a good omen.
I've never made - or even heard of - a cake mix
with melted white chocolate IN it, so this should be interesting, to say the least.
It all went together and mixed quite easily;
here is the result, as it came out of the oven . . .
. . . and completely decorated . . .
I think it looks pretty much like the showpiece, altho the icing's a bit too thick.
