[NO-BAKE]
OREO™ PIE

I was perusng a pie recipe page,
looking for one I could adapt to an idea I had,
when I came across this recipe for Preppy Kitchen's [NO-BAKE] OREO PIE.
As I'd mentioned HERE, I didn't think OREOs™
would work as a crust, but I was willing to prove myself wrong . . .

I had a Family Pack of ORIGINAL OREOs™ in the pantry
(as well as GOLDEN OREOs™, with which I plan to experiment at another time),
and cream cheese & heavy whipping cream in the fridge;
I made the crust and put it in the freezer while we fed the dogs,
then made the filling after that.


Pulsing station for CRUST . . .

Rather than use a 9" pie pan, which I thought too shallow,
I used a 9" cake pan . . .

. . . which worked out quite well . . .

I modified the recipe to pour the butter into the food processor,
rather than use yet ANOTHER bowl to mix the cookies and the butter.
A few short pulses mixed it just fine.

I think I made the OREOs™ for the filling too small; they should've been chopped . . .

I'm not fond of large pieces of ANYthing in a pie filling, so it was all good . . .

This is now in the refrigerator;
tomorrow, I will make the STABILIZED WHIPPED CREAM for the topping.

The bowl & beaters used
for the whipping cream should be
in the fridge as you make the crust.

I first thought 3/4 c of powdered
sugar would be waaaaaay too sweet
with the cream from the OREOs™,
but it was needed to offset the flavor
of the cream cheese.
