Andréa writes:
Every tooth aches from the shock, but bite doesn't seem misaligned,
altho with all the numbing, my lips feel like they are HUGE (botox gone wrong!)
We got home at 3 (I'd put away all the cake-making stuff
before we left, the things that were warming to room temp)
and had some soft lunch. I feel a nap coming on. Not baking, tho.
My mantra: I didn't break my hip. I didn't break my knee.
I didn't break my shoulder. I didn't break my head.
This, too, shall pass.
Stitches come out on 29 July; broken tooth will be looked at on 15 August.
JACKIE IKE:
Ohhhh nooooo . . . I know that really hurt!
I hope things will be an easy fix and not too much pain!
Just glad you didn't break anything but a tooth.
JACKIE McGUINNESS
in England:
Oh dear. I'm glad you didn't break anything other than a tooth. Sending healing hugs.
CHUCK RUSK:
I'm so glad that you weren't hurt any worse.
MARE MOORE
in Canada:
SO glad you didn't break any bones or get a concussion
(you didn't, did you?). Really relieved that you weren't hurt worse,
though I am sorry for the pain you ARE in 'cause when teeth hurt,
everything hurts. Sending zen & positive thoughts for a speedy
recovery!
JACKIE McGUINNESS
in England:
Oh dear, how are you feeling now?
Be careful it; takes a while before the shock hits you.
Rest and sip luke warm water little and often and salt mouth rinses.
I've had a broken jaw and smashed several teeth
and this is what I was told to do.
AD: Yes, salt water rinse for the itching inside the mouth;
Palmer's Cocoa Butter (recommended by my tattoo guy years ago)
for the itching lips. I know - itching equals healing.
On Monday & Tuesday, even my FAKE teeth (three implants
and one bridge) hurt like h*ll. I found some oldish Ibuprofen 600
and they helped, just for those two days.
PAULA LACKNER:
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear you are in pain.
Tooth pain is not any fun, but am glad you didn't end up
with broken bones. Take it easy, Andréa. We all need you,
the dogs and the humans.
DARLENE BEAUDOIN:
Oh my gosh! Thank God you're ok and no broken bones!
Holy crap! I hope you're on some kind of pain meds.
Dang, your mouth has got to hurt.
Hope you feel better soon. Sending prayers for a quick recovery.
PATRICIA YARNOT:
I hope you get a good night's sleep. What a day!
AD: However, we DID see a roseate spoonbill on our way out of
Tarpon Woods to the oral surgeon, but we didn't stop to take a pic.
I was able to sleep after 1/2 Xanax and staying on my left side.
This a.m., my lip looks and feels like a botox experiment gone wrong
(or Winston Churchill's bottom lip), and my shoulder & knees
are checking in to let me know THEY were involved, too.
This, too, shall pass . . . .
CHUCK RUSK & BUDDY:
Glad you're still among the living this morning.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
MARE MOORE
In Canada:
Really glad to hear that you were able to get some sleep, Andréa,
and am sending plenty o' Zen & positive thoughts
for your speedy recovery! Take gentle care o' yourself, eh!
CHUCK RUSK:
OOF! All the cards that must have gone flying!
My mom used to say something about playing "52 pick up".
This beats that. Glad you didn't poke out an eye on a hook.
Stay safe.
AD: Only a few went walkabout. You can tell from the curve why
I was able to fall with my face into it a bit.
Previously, whenever one of us left the house, the other would say,
"Drive careful!" Now Neal has to say to me, "WALK careful!"
BOB ANDERSON:
I guess you were "lucky" you weren't skewered on the rack.
I'm surprised that your whole body doesn't ache! Obviously,
you will take it slow & easy. I'll bet you are surrounded by little
Cairn nurses doing all they can to make sure you get lots of rest.
In fact, here is Emmie, Gipsy & SweeTea's idea for what every patient
should wear . . .

Chuck wrote "Glad you didn't poke out an eye on a hook."
That was my first thought, too, upon seeing that pic!
Really glad that didn't happen atop the rest of your hurts!
JACKIE McGUINNESS
in England:
Goodness me; you were so lucky not to lose an eye or break a bone or two.
BOB ANDERSON:
I'm so glad that you seem to be doing so well!
I'm sure there is still a lot of hurt
with reminders in case you forget . . .
Do take care & rest & napping should be priorities!
LIBBY KARIER:
Holy crap! Oh my gosh, I feel so bad for you. That is just awful.
You do definitely have a positive outlook, but oh my gosh,
it really sounds terrible. Sutures, cracked teeth,
swollen lip and more. I will be sending many good thoughts to you.
I think anyone falling into that would be hurt.
ELIZABETH WALTERS:
I am so sorry for that awful fall and face, mouth, teeth injuries.
I hope that you will recover before too long. Take it easy, please.
PATRICIA YARNOT:
Now that I've seen what you careened into, I'm amazed that
you didn't have eye injuries too! Lie on your outside couch
with the pups and try to relax. I'll have to consult with
my specialists to see what their opinions are . . .
