Combining cream cheese & whipped cream . . .

STRAWBERRY

. . . I found it a bit difficult to mix two substances that were the same color.

Mom, it's 4:46 p.m. Will you be finished in time to feed us??

STRAWBERRY

Yeah, I was with Dr. Leah today and she took my blood and then gave me a shot
and cut my nails and took my temperature in a not-so-nice way and
said I was old and then gave me a treat and . . . what were we talking about again?

STRAWBERRY

Oh yeah - are we gonna get dinner on time today??

The recipe says to "dollop" the cream cheese/whipping cream mixture
onto the strawberries, but I know if I do that,
they'll all move around, so I use one of my new
WILTON piping tips to spread out the mix . . .

STRAWBERRY

. . . and then spread it evenly with the offset spatula . . .

Adding the strawberry JELLO™, which I've never worked with before . . .

STRAWBERRY

. . . makes a mixture that looks like PeptoBismol™ . . .

The smoothing after the dolloping . . .

. . . and the final layer of whipped cream .. . .

Yes, the dogs received their dinner on time at 6 p.m.
Two hours later, the Delight was ready to serve . . .

The layers aren't as neatly articulated
as the pictures on the recipe website,
but I'm sure that was PhotoShopped™ . . .

STRAWBERRY

. . . altho there are definitely layers.

Considering how pricey this is (a pound of strawberries,
a pint of heavy whipping cream, two packages of cream cheese)
and the amount of time it took to put together (two hours & 15 minutes,
including stopping for taking pics and cleaning up),
the flavor - what there was of it - was disappointing.

Taste Tester #1 said that unless you had a slice of strawberry
on your fork, there was little flavor.
All I could taste was the NILLA™ base and the cream cheese.

Speaking of the NILLA™ base:
Despite how "chatty" the original recipe is,
it never suggests using parchment paper under the base.
I practically had to chisel it out of the baking dish,
which made an unphotogenic mess.

I don't think I'll make this again,
altho TT #1 suggested
that adding blueberries would make it
apropos for Fourth of July.

All looks; no taste.
I'd rather use strawberries for mousse.
