COFFEE MOUSSE
& MOCHA MOUSSE
14 JUNE 2023

I've been wanting to try
this COFFEE MOUSSE
for quite some time,
and I finally did so tonight.

COFFEE

Mixing station #1 . . .

Then I thought, What if we don't like the coffee flavor?
That's a lotta whipping cream to waste.

So I decided to make the entire recipe, divide the mixture in half,
add cocoa powder, extra sugar & chocolate sprinkles
to one half to make MOCHA MOUSSE. I hoped.

And that's why there is a box of DROSTE™ Cocoa Powder at the mixing station.

Again I get to use this wonderful little scale . . .

COFFEE

I had asked Neal to bring home a small jar of instant coffee,
and these seven sachets were only one gram less than required . . .

COFFEE

(SPOILER ALERT:
I could've used HALF the required amount
and the taste would've been much better.)

Again with the scale . . .

At this point, I gave it a taste. IT. WAS. NASTY!
So I mixed in about anothere half cup of powdered sugar.

Dividing the mixture in half, I used these two plastic containers . . .

The COFFEE MOUSSE half . . .

. . . and the MOCHA MOUSSE half . . .

I must add that altho I was born in the country
that produces DROSTE™ chocolate,
I NEVER wore a headpiece like that . . .

COFFEE

. . . except for one time
as a tourist in Volendam,
early 1954.
Also the only time
I ever wore wooden shoes . . .

(An aunt at the extreme left;
no idea who the other woman is.)

KOBUS

I added 1 tablespoon cocoa powder,
1 tablespoon vanilla bean sugar &
1/4 cup chocolate jimmies to half of the mixture . .

COFFEE

. . . and used the mixer again to blend,
as the cocoa powder would NOT incorporate
into the whipped cream by hand.

The results . . .

COFFEE

The silver glitter is from the second purchase;
it is no different than my first purchase.

If I were to make COFFEE MOUSSE again,
I would make it with half the instant coffee.
I did not realize how STRONG those granules are.

If I were to make MOCHA MOUSSE again,
I would make it with melted chocolate, rather than cocoa.

I also would NOT serve either at 9 p.m.;
we ate the MOCHA MOUSSE at that time.
I think I'll be awake for a loooooong time.
It's already after 12 a.m.,
and we are both still typing on our computers.

THE NEXT DAY . . .

If you like espresso coffee, this COFFEE MOUSSE is for you!
The flavor tones down after the first or second spoonful;
I really like it. I would NEVER have my coffee this strong, tho.
