PREPPY KITCHEN'S HONEY CAKE 29 JULY 2023
I was sent a recipe for HONEY CAKE, I think by Jeanne P; as I was looking for photos to use on the webpage, I came across the PREPPY KITCHEN'S HONEY CAKE, made withOUT Greek yogurt, so I decided to make that instead. I will make the yogurt-based recipe at another time and compare the two results. By the way, you can meet John Kanell HERE; he was a math & science teacher for ten years, which is why he always tells a bit about the science of baking. Mixing station . . . Miss Emmie moves into position, as close to "legal" as she can . . . Dooooooon' look at me . . . . . . and I won't look at you . . . HA! GOTCHA! Little does she know that in a few hours, she'll be on her way to the groomer.
Flour . . .	. . . baking soda . . .
. . . and baking powder . . .	Butter & brown sugar . . .
. . . and honey . . .
Because I couldn't put sliced almonds on the cake, I wanted to just toss on some sprinkles to add a bit o' color . . .
The dough tastes delicious . . . Plop it into the pan . . . . . . smooth it out . . . . . . toss on the sprinkles . . . . . . and into the oven. Now I see why the recipe says to put almonds [or sprinkles] on the cake halfway thru baking . . . . . . most of the sprinkles sank to the bottom of the cake. The taste and texture are quite good, but it neeeds something, whether it be a fruit compote or some whipped cream or honey . . . or all three. It is a good base, but rather meh on its own.

Mind melding: GIVE THE DOG A TREAT . . . GIVE THE DOG A TREAT . . . GIVE THE DOG . . . C'MON, I KNOW YOU HAVE SOME IN YOUR POCKET! I got to rub noses with some other dogs today . . . . . . and DogMom sez I look silly, but cooler, just like Gipsy. Served with whipped cream & honey . . .
