You may remember that we were not very impressed
with the flavor of the [NO-BAKE] RUM BALLS),
so I decided to try the [NO-BAKE] BOURBON BALLS, as the
[NO-BAKE] BROWN SUGAR BOURBON ICEBOX PIE
was such a success.

However, I would make them with ORIGINAL OREOS™
in place of NILLA™ wafers and eliminate the cocoa.

I purchased a set
of cookie scoops . . .

SPOILER ALERT:
Unfortunately, when I looked over the recipe and saw *5*cups
of cookie crumbs, I thought to myself, 'That can't be right;
I must've transcribed the recipe incorrectly',
and I reduced the number to *2* cups,
having forgotten that this was NOT a modification
of PREPPY KITCHEN's recipe,
but a completely different one.
The one I'd held on to for maybe 10+ years,
then thought I'd tossed, then found again.


Adding dry ingredients . . .

. . . adding bourbon & corn syrup . . .

. . . realizing something is wrong,
but having no idea what, yet . . .

Maybe I should just put a straw in here and drink it?


. . . adding some powdered sugar & the OREO™ crumbs
left over that I'd planned to use as a coating . . .

. . . adding 16 OREO™ cookies worth of crumbs . . .

At this point, I said the heck with it and used my new cookie scoop . . .

. . . hoping that the sprinkles would kinda hold the dough together.


I would call these BOURBON BLOBS . . .

. . . but they taste very very good . . .

I figured I'd put 'em in the fridge . . .

[NO

. . . then I realized it would make more sense
to put the bowl of dough in the fridge for a few hours.


After lunch, I tried again with the small amount of dough I still had . . .

Of course, they all will have to stay in the fridge
or they'll become BOURBON BLOBS again.


MUTTS

After I cleaned up the kitchen, I began to write this page.
I looked in my office wastepaper basket;
the original recipe was still there.
Sure enough, the recipe calls for *5* cups of crumbs.

The lesson learned here is to NOT doubt myself,
seeing as how I proof - several times - every recipe I transcribe.

AND it's a good thing I did this practice before the Howlidays

BUT if I mess up such a simple recipe,
what's going to happen with my next project,
which is so complex it will take place over several days??
I guess we'll find out.




Be aware that as these are not baked,
they are alcohol-infused.

6 AUGUST UPDATE

These are supposed to rest in the fridge for at least TWO days,
to let the flavors meld. I can already taste the improvement
after one day; shape does NOT affect flavor!
