I wonder if NABISCO stock has gone up since I
"discovered" how well OREOs™ work in baking.

Jeanne P. sent me a recipe for a
[NO-BAKE] OREO™ ICEBOX CAKE,
and as I have both heavy cream
& ORIGINAL OREOs™ on hand,
I thought I'd throw it together this evening,
using DOUBLE STUFF rather than the THIN version.

When I mentioned to Neal that I could use
STABILIZED WHIPPED CREAM so it would last longer,
he thought it would defeat the purpose of the whipped cream -
that of softening the cookies.

So I found a container I estimated was about half the size
of a typical loaf pan and cut the recipe in half.

Six cookies to a row work out just right.


This is the difficult part, especially as cling wrap & I don't get along . . .

There is NO WAY you can put whipped cream in between six cookies,
and then put them into a pan sideways; they slither all over!
It works much better to put each cookie into the pan,
add the whipped cream and another cookie . . .

. . . and there wasn't enough whipped cream to cover the cookies,
let alone set any aside for serving.
Perhaps three-quarters of the recipe would've worked better.

8 AUGUST UPDATE

I did NOT like the way it looked this morning,
so I used the other cup of heavy cream to make
STABILIZED WHIPPED CREAM,
put the ccake into a larger glass pan,
and covered it with whipped cream & chocolate jimmies . . .

After being in the fridge for at least another hour,
we can try it later today.


WELL, you REALLY have to like OREOs™ and whipped cream . . .
