NAILED NAILED

BERRY COBBLER

REDUX

16 AUGUST 2022

First order of business: Put on my back brace.

Second order of business: Take two Bufferin.

Third order of business: Keep this blog dog-related
by taking a pic of Princess SweeTea
who hasn't been her usual "full o' vim & vinegar"
as she usually is, altho she ate her breakfast, after fasting yesterday.

NAILED

Obviously, she is NOT AT ALL interested
in what's going to happen in the kitchen.

OTOH, Emmie is in position,
 JUST at the kitchen threshold
(one of us moved).

NAILED

I moved my [hand]mixing station to the breakfast table;
being lower than the counter, it should be easier on my arm
(that's easier to do than actually exercise my arms).

NAILED

Into the oven, covered with sugar . . .

NAILED

. . . while Emmie moves to a much more comfortable spot
on the couch in the fireplace room (so she can watch ME,
not what might fall on the floor) . . .

NAILED

(One of us moved. Again.)

Cooling, watched over by, as usual, RicoBadBoy . . .

NAILED

IF you use FROZEN berries, allow more time,
as they add moisture to the batter.

18 AUGUST ADDENDUM

Once more, into the breach:

Because I found it was impossible to trim and slice frozen strawberries,
I used only the frozen raspberries.

Because I had thrown out the milk that morning,
I used the heavy whipping cream I still had available.

Because the dough was much too stiff,
I added some evaporated milk.

Because I wanted to see how it would affect the taste,
I added 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Because the cake just would not set,
I gave it almost 20 minutes more baking time.

Because I did all of the above, the cake is edible,
but not completely risen in the middle.

So much for experimentation.
