MONKEY BREAD
MUFFINS
10 DECEMBER 2023

Today started out beautifully,
especially as the "Christmas
Cactus that started it all",
(thank you again, Jackie I),
and which I thought I was
going to lose this summer
(that story will be part of the
Howliday Card Website 2023,
available later this month),
burst forth its first blossom today.

No matter how many times
I see these plants bloom,
I am always astounded by
the flowers' colors & shape . . .

After we both prepared for the rain that was promised,
me, by moving all the plants under cover;
Neal, by blowing out the gutters,
then vacuuming & spraying the dogs's potty pen,
the rains began. Great weather for baking something simple.

The cupcake cups that were promised for Sunday
were delayed until Monday, so my planned project was delayed.

However, how about the MONKEY BREAD MUFFINS
recipe Jeanne P had sent to me a while ago . . .

MONKEY

Wikipedia defines Monkey Bread as a soft, sweet, sticky pastry
served in the United States for breakfast or as a treat.
It consists of pieces of soft baked dough sprinkled with cinnamon.

Putting-it-all-together station . . .

MONKEY

(Pay no attention to the can of pumpkin or the can of dog food
[set out for after Gipsy's dental on Tuesday]).

I didn't think I needed to spray the muffin tin
with PAM™, but I did anyway.

MONKEY

I realized too late that there were TEN biscuits in the can,
so I should've used my 12-count muffin tin,
but I decided to just make two batches this time.

First six, cut into quarters . . .

MONKEY

. . . dipped into UNSALTED butter . . .

MONKEY

. . . and shaken in bag with sugar & cinnamon . . .

MONKEY

Ready to go into the oven . . .

MONKEY

I mean, with butter, sugar & cinnamon,
why wouldn't these taste good?

Second batch waiting for first batch to finish baking . . .

MONKEY

. . . which they did . . .

MONKEY

I was in a hurry, so I dumped them out of the pan . . .
NOT a good idea, I discovered.

. . . and second batch straight out of the oven . . .

MONKEY

. . . whilst the first batch was already eaten.

THIS is how they should look when taken out of the pan carefully . . .

THE RECIPE I USED

MONKEY
MONKEY MONKEY

I chose NOT to make the
Caramel Sauce because:
1) To me, cinnamon & caramel flavors
don't really mix well;
2) There was already enough
sugar in this recipe; and
3) How are we to EAT these warm
with HOT Caramel Sauce
poured over them??

I may just use that Caramel Sauce
on something else, tho,
on a future baking project.
