BARB OIMAS:
You did a great job, for the first time. I sure enjoyed the pictures of your progress. I had a good laugh at some of it.
PAULA LACKNER:
Yummy delight for your very first decorated cake! I'm glad you have a new hobby.
JEANNE PLAUTH:
Great job! You had fun and that counts too. I bet it tasted yummy.
BOB ANDERSON:
Wow! I am impressed . . . I think you did MAHVELOUS! What was really great was how you improvised and filed away things you learned for next time. It looks so good. I've seen Nailed IT! & you would definitely have won on that show with this cake - NO doubt about it!
SHARON COHEN:
Loved it! No way I'd do anything like this. NTS: Don't read a humorous email from your friend when you have a bruised ribcage.
JACKIE McGUINNESS-PARKER
in England:
It looks very tasty. I have never tried using an icing bag. I sometimes fancy trying to make a fancy cake but even mixing the buttercream makes me feel queasy . . .
AD: There are many recipes available that either do not use butter, or just a small amount. I found this one too sweet, so I will next try an Italian Meringue Buttercream, now that I know about purchasing pasteurized egg whites. Also, whipped cream makes a lovely frosting; just don't beat it into butter as I did when attempting a Chocolate Mousse last week; in all my years of baking (since Junior High School Home Ec class), that was the first result that had to be tossed. I haven't given up on that. though.
RAELENE PINION:
That cake looks beautiful and delicious! Good work! Can't wait to see your next one.
AD: It will be some time before I try this again, if ever. If I had others to help eat it, I would make more, but there are just the two of us, and neither of us can really AFFORD to eat so much cake very often.
JACKIE IKE:
Looks good to me. Keep it up and you will be a pro in no time! I think you should have a party and we will all come for a taste and a visit!
AD: If Florida's COVID cases weren't so high, I'd love for everyone & their dog[s] to come over
and help us eat any cakes I make; I would make several different kinds, I promise.
And a special one for the dogs, of course.
PATRICIA YARNOT:
I loved watching the progress and then the final product. It looks tasty. It looks like cake decorating takes a lot of patience.
AD: Yes, of which, unless it is about DOGS, I do not have much.
MARE MOORE
in Canada:
Wow, congrats Andréa, well done . . . quite a yummy-looking accomplishment.
LIBBY KARIER:
Looks delicious! And congrats for having the nerve to even try.
LORI MIHELICH:
I've been enjoying my retirement; so far no cake baking though!
AD: You've been retired for four days; after 17 years, you may start getting interested in baking,
altho I know that cooking is your strong suit.
MARCELLA GARZA:
Ha! Have never attempted to decorate a cake. That would be an absolute disaster.
DOREEN MUNDIE:
Love it! What fun that must be!
CHUCK RUSK:
My decorating talents begin and end with trying to spread peanut butter on a piece of bread. Enjoy yourself.
PAT CRANMER:
For doing this for the first time, I think it looks MARVELOUS! Flavor sounds good as well even if it is a dense cake. Nothing wrong with that! Way to go!
KEN DeKOVEN:
Yep, you did nail it! Great job!
AD: Today, 12 July, I puréed and froze a pack of strawberries;
when I feel like trying again, I plan to thaw the purée and use it in between two layers,
with a less-buttery and less-sweet frosting. STAY TUNED FOR EPISODE 2 OF NAILED IT!
