PUPPIES AT THE VET REDUX

19 NOVEMBER 2009

Brenda writes:

Well, we went to the doc this morning for our second set of shots and checkups. We got weighed and we got our names! Since I forgot my camera, no pics. But, I'll be downloading some tonight or tomorrow. They are such cutie pies!

THE BOYS:

Roamie - 3.4 pounds. He got his name by roaming everywhere when he was born; Peggy named him from the beginning.

Mika - 3.8 pounds. He has already been matched to Doreen; she's adopted two from CRUSA already and she named him.

Marty - 4 pounds. Momma Peggy named Marty, too.

THE GIRLS:

Anya - 3.4 pounds. Ancient Irish name from the noun aine, which means splendor, radiance, brilliance. Aine is connected with fruitfulness & prosperity. The queen of the Munster fairies was called Aine, as was one of the wives of Fionn Mac Cool (read the legend). Aine appears in folktales as "the best-hearted woman who ever lived - lucky in love & in money."

Lizzie Lou - 3.8 pounds. Named for a friend's daughter; her name is Lizzie and he calls her Lizzie Lou. He completed my root canal and didn't charge me penny! His daughter is a cutie pie, too, just like Lizzie.

Jemma - 3.6 pounds. I heard this on a commercial and loved it.

Briley - 2.8 pounds. I was in Tennessee on Briley Parkway when Marnie was still pregnant; I just loved the name.

Kiera - 3.6 pounds. Miss Kiera is dark. The feminine form of Ciaran, from the Irish ciar meaning dark and implies dark hair & brown eyes. St. Ciara was a distinguished seventh-century figure who established a monastery at Kilkeary in County Tipperary. It was the fourth most popular baby girl name in Ireland in 2003.
