Katie Kneesel writes: Stacey Day 1
Stacey arrived at about 5:15 on Friday October 17. She came from another foster home, so she seems to be settling in okay. Sugaree was very interested in this new visitor and doesn't mind her around at all. She has tried a few times to get Stacey to play, but unfortunately Stacey doesn't understand yet. Hopefully with more socialization she will come around.
When Stacey arrived, we tried to get her to potty, but had no luck with about 1/2 hour outside, so we gave up and went in. I had to finish up some work so I kept the two girls in the kitchen where I could see them and not worry so much if Stacey had an accident. Stacey ate dinner around 7:30 and she gobbled it right down. She has a very healthy appetite and will even take treats from my hand, although she is little timid about that.
After dinner we went outside and Stacey finally made a tinkle! After that we spent the evening watching TV. I picked up Stacey and let her sit on the couch by me and she let me pet her. She really seemed to enjoy that. If you don't pick her up and put her on the couch, she just lies on the floor peacefully and naps. She even picked up one of Sugaree's toys last night, the Moo Moo cow to be specific. Although not really looking to play with it, she carried it around a little, which was cute.
Bedtime, I took the girls out at about 11:30 for one last potty but unfortunately nothing was happening for Miss Stacey. Sugaree quickly did her business and went back in where it was warm. Stacey, however never did anything before bed and I gave up after about 20 minutes or so of walking the backyard with her in the dark and cold.
Do I hear Buddy coming outside?
Stacey slept quietly in her crate all night. She wouldn't really go in on her own, but she did allow me to pick her up and place her in without panicking. I gave her treats and told her she was a good girl and then Sugaree & I went to bed. I worried about Stacey all night long, but didn't hear her at all.
