Stacey Day 2
As her previous foster home stated that Stacey
As soon as we went outside, Stacey pooped.
No sooner did I turn my back to make breakfast for the girls than someone made a big tinkle behind me. I will take the blame for this one since I probably should have made the girls wait outside for their food until it was ready (my plan was have them eat and then go back outside with Stacey as I knew she must have to tinkle), so my bad. But so far that has been the only accident.
After the girls were fed & happy, Foster Mom Katie really wanted more sleep . . . soooooo I put Stacey in her crate and went back to bed. This time she wasn't so happy about being in the crate. She proceeded to scratch, probably hoping I might let her out. But Foster Mom is a bit tougher than Stacey thought.
Doin' the Perimeter Check
Then, to my surprise, I heard some barking. This was the first noise I had heard from Miss Stacey, so I was somewhat pleased but then not so much, because I wanted to sleep. I walked out to her and told her, 'No bark' and covered her crate up hoping that would help. She fussed a little longer but eventually I think she was quiet and and I got in a little nap.
Then I got up and put the girls outside. Still no more potties from Stacey. I gave up after a while and went in to get dressed, leaving the girls outside. The intent now was to take a walk with the two of them.
Sugaree's favorite ball
Overall the walk went very well. Sugaree was not very pleased about the slow pace we kept. She pulled & tugged, as she is used to speed-walking. Stacey enjoyed sniffing all the new smells and kept a leisurely pace by my side for the most part. I did notice her little nervous cough a couple times on the walk, but it didn't seem to bother her.
We spent a little more time out in the yard after getting back, but Stacey seems to enjoy being inside more than out, so we are back in.
Stacey even picked up a ball out of the toy box today! Again not sure what to do with it, but it is a start. Sugaree is trying to show her how much fun it is to play with toys & balls.
Overall, I think Stacey is settling in well. I really hope that she learns some things from Sugaree, such as how much fun it is to play. I hope to get her around some other dogs soon, too, so she can really grow more from socializing with other dogs. Right now she is sleeping on the rug in the family room. I think she is dreaming as her ears are twitching and she was making some little noises. More to come on Miss Stacey as the days go by.
