Days 4 & 5
We are still working hard on not having accidents in the house. Unfortunately, each day there has been one, but then again it hasn't even been a week so I guess I shouldn't fret too much. However, today Stacey realized that she can go in & out the dog door any time she wants. I'm very pleased about this and I really hopes it encourages her to run out there to potty. I think she really likes it outside. She would just go out today and wander around the back yard checking things out.
Stacey had to be by herself last night for a bit while I took Sugaree to the vet for her annual shots. She did fine, but was certainly happy to be out of her crate when we got home. Before we left, I was out in the yard with the girls and I witnessed Stacey chase a bunny. I was soooooo ecstatic for her. It is amazing when those terrier instincts kick in. Hopefully she continues to do more of that and build up some muscle in her hind end. Maybe if it is nice we will get out for a walk tomorrow.
I'm hoping Stacey has some visitors this week (my Mom's Cairn, Nellie and my ex-husband's Cairn, Casey, who used to be my boy as well). I think it will do her good to be around some other dogs. Sugaree is really trying here & there to get Stacey to play. Tonight Sug was running around play growling & shoving a toy in Stacey's face. Stacey did have her tail up, but she was really doing her best to ignore Sugaree and kept walking away from her.
STACEY MEETS A PAL
25 OCTOBER 2008
Stacey is doing well. On Thursday, Day 7, she went the entire day without one accident in the house. Yippee!!!!! And actually since then she hasn't had an accident. I've now started leaving her & Sugaree in the kitchen while I'm out. I left them 4 hours tonight and there was not one accident. Mind you, they did get into a tad bit of trouble by tearing into a treat bag mommy mistakenly left on the chair. But looks like that was right when I got home because they didn't eat much of anything.
Yesterday Stacey met Casey. She was very happy to have another dog around. In the picture below, Stacey is batting at Casey and trying to get him to play. It was so very cute. Today Stacey enjoyed a walk. She never pulls and walks right near you and just loves to smell everything. But then she likes to run around behind me, too, and get the leashes tangled. Her nervous cough comes out then, but not for the entire walk. Overall, Stacey is doing very well.
