I couldn't help but share with everyone tonight because I thought this was precious. Stacey has taken at least 10 toys out of the toy box throughout the day and is pretty much surrounded by them. She is chewing on one as I type this.

Merry Christmas All!

STACEY BEGINS

Katie writes: Christmas Day . . . so Bittersweet
Today - Christmas Day 2008 - Stacey starts the last leg of her journey to her forever home. Christmas Day is always a very happy day in our family, but today it was bittersweet.
Stacey started off the day with her foster sister Sugaree going to visit at the Grandparents' house. Stacey wasn't too thrilled considering she had to see the evil Nellie who was quite mean to her back in early November. However, the two kept their distance and Stacey slept most of the day or sat by the fire.
Bette, Deb, Katie & Stacey
In the afternoon, we headed south to Lindenhurst, Illinois, to meet Bette Boyers & Debbie Scheuring, who would be driving Stacey to St. Louis to meet her new family and head home to . . . where else? . . . Kansas.
Sugaree & I hope Stacey will settle in quickly to her new home and bond with her new brother, Chester. She has Christmas presents and a new hand-knit sweater waiting for her when she arrives. It sounds like she will be spoiled, which she really deserves.
Sugaree & I loved her as much as we possibly could while she was with us and we are both kind of down tonight not having her here. Regardless, we wish Stacey all the best and hope she loves her new home & family!

STACEY ARRIVES HOME

Bette & Deb write:
When we brought her home, our dogs were actually good.
Bella: Would you like to stay here, Stacey?
So then we started off . . . .
You're already promised to
WOW!!! What a trip it was. Whatever could have happened, did!
First, we hit Chicago's Biggest Ice Storm, as cars were flying off the roads and the interstate shut down due to a jackknifed semi; we took old Route 66 to get around it all.
Then a warm front was hitting St. Louis; as the temperature climbed to a balmy 71 degrees, we were in fog so bad we couldn't see a foot in front of us.
We got to Joplin at about 10 p.m., when we were supposed to be there by 7 p.m.
Stacey was an angel, not a peep out of her the whole way. She felt safe in her crate. We kept the door open and when she felt like it, she came out.
After we dropped her off and got some shuteye, the next day we hit torrential rain and a tornado. Thank Dog Stacey was gone.
After that it was smooth sailing.
All in all it was a success.
