CRUSA MINI MEET

7 FEBRUARY 2009

Shell Lewis writes:

One of the nice perks of volunteering with CRUSA is that you get to meet great people. Two weekends ago, Sue & Chris Stoughton of West Chicago, Illinois drove down to St. Louis to adopt Gus. Yesterday, Sue & Chris hosted a delicious brunch at their lovely home and invited Jim, myself & Karen Hradek of Geneva, Illinois, who had done their home visit.

In one incredibly lucky moment, Chris was able to capture this photo. Pictured on top of the sofa is Ebony, the Stoughton's Cairn mix; below are four CRUSA dogs: Chester, wearing the stripped harness. Chester originally belonged to Eileen Czeblewski, my friend & mentor at CRUSA who passed away two years ago [whose In Memoriam can be seen HERE]. Next to Chester is 16-week-old Gus. Next to Gus is his new best friend, Lucy, (formally Darla) who came into CRUSA with her two littermates in September (she was one of the little pups at MIDWEST CAIRNFEST 2008 in Kenosha, [which can be seen HERE]. And next to Lucy is Molly Lewis whom we adopted from CRUSA in 2005. (Skippy was not invited to this party as he tends to be aggressive with puppies).

Thanks to Chris & Sue for a lovely afternoon of good food . . . good friendship . . . and surprisingly well-behaved dogs!
