Jim & I drove in to the UW Vet School Friday morning. His foster moms had brought Braveheart in for a recheck appointment, and we thought it would be fun to see him - and his family - again. | |
When Braveheart trotted into the building, he was greeted like a celebrity, with a crowd gathered round him and lots of people taking photos. Of course, he posed for pictures and politely greeted everyone: the front desk staff, the doctors, and the other pet owners (who were in the waiting area) who recognized him. I think Braveheart is becoming accustomed to being "famous" and is becoming a bit of a ham!
A SHLURP for Dr. Foy
During the exam which followed, Dr. Foy checked Braveheart over and decided to start him on yet another type of antibiotic which will hopefully help clear up some little skin pustules that have appeared and are causing him to feel itchy. We suspect Braveheart also has an ear infection, but he didn't want to hold still so that Dr. Foy could peer deep down into his ear, and we didn't have the heart to hold him down forcibly and cause him to struggle.
Dr. Foy is hoping that the medication that Braveheart is already taking will eventually clear up any ear infection but, if not, when Braveheart goes back for a recheck in the middle of next week, they will investigate the ear problem more fully.
Braveheart's wound on his right front leg is healing slowly; even though he licks at it a little, Dr. Foy thought it would be best not to bandage it unless absolutely necessary. Also, Dr. Foy OK'd increasing the amount of food that Braveheart gets each day, so by next week's recheck, we hope he will have put on another pound or two. As you can see, he is still terribly thin but he FEELS so much better and is acting like a happy little guy, so we know that he is slowly on the mend.
He's doing GREAT in his foster home. He has settled in quickly and has really bonded with Lisa & Joanne, their two kids, AND their other dog. It's a match made in heaven!
