On 1 April, Gayle Kiesow, CRUSA Director of Midwest Foster Homes, writes:

The River Valley Small Animal Clinic - the vet clinic CRUSA uses - in East Peoria, Illinois is holding an OPEN HOUSE for its new clinic on May 2. CRUSA has been invited to set up a booth/table to talk about what we do and to sell what we will call impulse items, not specific to Cairns. The best part of this open house is that CRUSA will benefit from 50% of all monies collected from a raffle that also will be held.

Not only have Dr. Bill Johnson & his staff been wonderful to work with and very fair in fees, they also want CRUSA to benefit from the profit. More than 600 invitations will be going out, so there should be a good response.

So, I come begging, realizing items donated for the raffle would have to be mailed - if you want to write a check for us to put together a certain type raffle basket that would be wonderful too. Maybe a gift card to a well-known store or resturant to be raffled. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Let's work together to make this a fabulous raffle and lots of funds for CRUSA. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you, thank you, thank you again, all of you who have responded. You are making a huge difference in the items that will be available for raffle at Dr. Johnson's Open House for his new clinic.

I wanted to let you know how much they appreciate the checks & items being sent. Dr & Mrs. Johnson have decided that CRUSA will benefit 100% from any raffle item provided by CRUSA. Before, all raffle items were going to be split between CRUSA & a local no-kill animal shelter. But because you have stepped up with some good ideas to make for a great raffle, CRUSA will now receive ALL of those proceeds. Other items donated by local merchants, etc., will still be split 50/50.

So if you have been thinking, now is the time to act, as there are fewer than three weeks left.
