Cubbie has settled in very nicely. He received a very good bill of health at the vet and returns in about two weeks for his boosters.
I picked a recommended vet who isn't crazy about neutering six-month-old pups so if he doesn't want to do it, I guess we will have to change vets.
Cubbie is very sweet, but very stubborn. He is doing very well house breaking - a few accidents but none in his crate. He is very treat-driven. He also sleeps through the night. Yay for us.
He is doing well with his food. He still does a slight growl at times. but we have been consistent about stopping the feeding when he growls. Someone has a hand in the bowl or is petting him for half his meal. We are hand-feeding the other half of a meal and working on SIT.
He's best left alone when given a wonderful teething treat. I have been putting a Kong in the crate when I have to leave and he really likes that Kong. He likes to bury it in the crate and has snapped if he thought someone was going to take it.
He is still nipping & growling, particularly when he doesn't care to leave his crate or if our youngest picks him up. I would say he's doing better. He would very much like to manage our youngest son, Chip. We have Chip walking him once a day alone and feeding him at least one meal without assistance. Chip is a little cautious and I think Cubbie has picked up on that.
My oldest son thinks Cubbie is very willing to respect Mom & Dad but isn't sure he has to listen his "brothers".
He really seems to like Chip & his friends outside as long as they don't pick him up. He hasn't snapped but wants down when small people want to cuddle him.
He is doing great with other dogs. Most of our neighbor dogs are quite a bit bigger so he is getting good exercise, as the photo shows.
Because of our inexperience with a terrier, I am unsure if he has just normal puppy nips or aggression. He seems to be growling less. Some growling is okay? Play growling? He corrects well, though, so I guess that's the main thing.
He really, really likes my husband whom he doesn't see that often.
The main thing is . . . we think he's wonderful.
